Once upon a time

Faridah started Kasana Foods in her parent’s kitchen with the goal of selling more fruits and vegetables from their farm. She noticed that a significant amount of produce was rotting before it could reach the market, and she wanted to find a solution. Her idea was to create products that would have longer shelf life while still retaining the nutritional value and deliciousness of the fruits.

Our business was founded by women in Uganda, known as ‘the fruit basket of Africa’. We believe food should make you happy and improve your wellbeing, that’s why we are dedicated to creating delicious and nutritious dried fruit for you to indulge.

Vegetable and Fruit Waste

Faridah understands that vegetable and fruit waste occurs when produce is discarded due to spoilage, improper handling, or not meeting market standards. This waste represents lost nutrition and resources. To combat this, her company, Kasana Foods, transforms excess fruits like mango, banana, pineapple, and jackfruit into dried products, preserving their value and extending their shelf life, thus reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
